Coach Nueberger

Whether I am playing or coaching the game of hockey, I am always looking to find new and different ways to sculpt the style of the sport. What is just as exciting as learning the game, is teaching it to the younger players coming up.

I grew up playing hockey for Minnesota and Wisconsin, and I was always watching and figuring out what was the most efficient and successful way to play the game. I still challenge myself to do so as a coach and trainer, by creating a strong, strategic foundation. I then tweak it as the sport progresses or new and inspiring insight and styles arise.

After playing HS hockey for Somerset, WI, I attended/graduated Augsburg University in Minnesota, where I played hockey on and off for the NCAA DIII Auggies (96-01). When I wasn't playing hockey, I was studying abroad, and experiencing the world.

After college I started coaching for many years to come. I've been the head and asst coach on every level of boy's and girl's youth program (BA,PW,SQ,MT,15U.12U,10U). I have coached both Boys and Girls High School teams. I've coached Men's ACHA (Club team) for St Cloud State, as well as teams in the GMHL and FHL as either a coach, scout or player development.  CCM has also brought me in to be an evaluator for their High-Performance programs in the state of Minnesota.

I have been really focusing on player development since 2015, working with Breakaway Hockey.  I have been training both boys and girls from every level, from mites to high school. Last year I was made the Director of the girl's program, as well as helped out on the boy's side as an instructor for their camps, clinics, leagues, and AAA teams. Over the years I have been part of a great group of elite coaching staff, that has helped train many players starting at the youth level, and advance into top MN High School and College teams. Nothing more rewarding than seeing the players I have helped trained over the years, achieve greatness in this sport!

Coach Dan

Dan Hoehne joined Breakaway Hockey as the Lead Goalie Coach in the Spring of 2016.

Hoehne was born and raised in Minnesota and began his hockey career at age five for Brooklyn Park and then later Minnetonka. He took to goaltending at the age of six and never looked back. He played his high school hockey for Duluth East, setting the school record for most career wins with 60. He was also named Northland Goaltender of the year in 2000, as well as being named to the All State Tournament Team where the Greyhounds finished runners up. Dan was named 2000 and 2001 Team MVP and team captain in 2001. After high school, Hoehne enjoyed a successful Junior hockey career in Canada for the Borderland Thunder in the SIJHL. While there, he was fortunate enough to win an SIJHL Championship in 2003 as well as being named SIJHL Goaltender of the Year for the 2003 season. He also was named Team MVP and All Star Game MVP in 2003 and 2004. Following the 2004 season Dan joined the Muskegon Fury of the UHL and was a member of the Colonial Cup winning Fury in 2004. Following his hockey career, Dan returned to Minnesota to become a full time goalie Instructor at Stauber's Goalcrease in Edina, MN.  Dan took a brief detour from coaching when he enlisted in the Navy and was going through Navy SEAL training before a medical discharge from the program halted his progress. Upon returning to Minnesota, Dan became a Lead Instructor back at Stauber's Goalcrease.
